Post-Natal Belly Dance

Post-natal belly dance:

This energetic class is the perfect addition to your postpartum fitness routine. Belly dance is a safe and fun way to support the body as it recovers from pregnancy and childbirth. Whether the birth of your child occurred recently, or years in the past you will benefit from this movement practice. The isolations and exercises in this dance form strengthen and tone the muscles in the abdomen, pelvic floor, hips and legs. They also supports healthy posture and can relieve common aches and pains. Most importantly, this dance form nurtures confidence, body positivity, community and it is a great stress reliever.

The class will begin with some strengthening and stretching exercises, followed by short dance combos designed to support postpartum recovery. We will end class will a yoga-based cooldown.

About Allison Prater: Allison Prater is a registered Yoga Teacher (200hr RYT) and a certified practitioner in Rachel Brice's 8-elements of Belly Dance program. She is currently completing Doula certification through Childbirth International (CBI). Allison has been belly dancing for 17 years and found the dance to be extremely helpful during her own pregnancy, as well as for birth and postpartum recovery. She loves sharing the joy of movement and dance, especially with fellow mamas.
